Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Leh
Arrive Leh and transfer tothe hotel. After welcome drink / breakfast take complete rest for acclimatization to the highaltitude and rarefied air of Ladakh. In the late afternoon proceed on an orientation tour of theold city centre where you will take leisurely walks through the markets & lanes of this historic town whichonce served as the Caravan Centre for the central Asian & Silk Routetraders. Wind up the tour with a visit to the Shanti Stupa, perchedupon a hillock with panoramic views of the city and the valley. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Local Sightseeing / Approx.80 kms round trip / 3-4 hours
Afterbreakfast proceed for sightseeing of ThikseyMonastery, a major Gelukpa foundationdating from the 16th century.Returningfrom Thiksey, you may walk up the hill to SheyPalace and admire the gigantic copper-giltstatue of the Buddha in the attached temple installed in the 17thcentury. Thereafter, you can drive to visit the Druk Padma School (3-IdiotsRancho School) if interested. Post lunch, drive to visit Sangam (confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers), en-routevisiting Hall of Fame (museum of militaryheritage), Gurudwara Pathar Sahib & MagneticPoint. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 3: Excursion to Pangong Lake / 150 kms /one way / 5-6 hours
After early breakfast leave for Pangong Lake,first driving up stream along the Indus River till Karu and then following thelong, winding road up the Ladakh range and cross the Chang-la pass (alt: 17370ft. / 5486 meters-3rd. highest motorable pass in the world). PangongLake (alt:14,500 ft.), largest brackish water lake of Asia, is 4-5 kms wide andabout 135 kms long of which about two-third portion lies on the other side ofthe Indo-China border. After sightseeing at the lake, drive back to Leh,reaching by the evening. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 4: Excursion to Khardongla / 80 kms round trip / 3-4 hours.
After breakfast proceed on an excursion to Khardong-La (alt: 18,390 ft. / 5602 M), highest motorable pass in the world. The pass offers spectacular views of the Zanskar range across the Indus Valley in the south, and of the Saser massif in the north.The pass leads on to the Nubra Valley, but you will be returning to your hotel after the excursion. Rest of the day is at leisure to explore the markets for shopping etc. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Departure from Leh
Earlymorning transfer to the airport for taking the flight back home.
